Gene and I did some digging this morning at our 1890s-era dump. My favorite of the day was a Dead Stuck bug poison in a scarcer 7-inch size. Others included a small amber flask and some common meds. Gene got a druggist from Bloomsburg, PA, an acid-etched wine bottle, two milk glass fruit jar lids and some meds. Not a bad day, and still lots of digging left at this spot. ~Jim

I have seen very few 7-inch Dead Stuck bottles. They are usually 8 1/2-9". This is a cool poison that I did not have before. Cool to have, and even better since I dug it myself [;)].

One last pic. You gotta love the bedbug getting impaled by a pin. Looks like he's dead...and stuck [:D]. ~Jim

Jim:

Congrats on ANOTHER successful dig for you and Gene! You're really getting me anxious to get up there and join the 2 of you for another dig. It's looking like I MAY be getting up to our cabin over the Thanksgiving week-end. (I have to work on Friday, but may get up after that.) Keep up the good work and save some of those old bottles for me.

Denny

P.S. Did Gene get himself some new shoes yet?

Thanks, everyone. The non-poisonous poison thing is interesting. If this stuff killed bugs, I can't imagine that it would be healthy for humans to drink [:'(].

This dump is in the right era for the good poisons (lattices, irregular hexagons, skull and bones, etc.). I'm sure they are in there somewhere. We have found a good many inks (one emerald green Carter's), druggists (one teal embossed), wines/ales, common meds and some good fruit jar lids. Heartbreakers have included broken embossed cobalt meds, embossed druggists and a blob top Lewistown Bottling Works soda. I would LOVE to find a good poison or LBW hutch soda. ~Jim

Actually it was a semi thick substance that was poured out and the bugs would get stuck in it! Sort of like the pull out fly traps!!! They said it was was non poison but you never know! Nice find though..I dug the larger version a few months ago.

You could get little packs of 1 dozen paper trays that had the dead stuck bug emblem in the middle. You poured the sticky stuff in the trays and it attracted the bugs and they got stuck. When full you tossed. It was not supposed to be dangerious but neither was agent orange {2-4/D-4} and DDT.
