i'm not sure which is sicker me or the bottle. i cannot stop digging in the dirt.

i don't think i can stand to wash it. it's coming off in flakes so i wanted to capture it.

thanks [:)] i looked around here for hours the other day. it's a great forum.

my son and i recently found what seems like an inexhaustible old dump of not very rare but still irresistible bottles. i've been a bottle nut since the 70's when my dad gave me some old bottles but it's gotten worse. the ground is about to freeze here and even the cold and mud can't stop me. we find 30 or so bottles every time we go. recently we even found one with a tiny lock of hair inside.

soaking a days haul. the lock of hair is on the paper towel on the right.

so far where the bottles are we've only scratched the surface. it's already snowed here so the plan is to go deep next year. going to be a long, impatient winter during which i plan to learn to determine a botlles age etc.

even the junk bottles are amazing to me though.

has anyone ever devised a way to keep the flakes on the bottle? it's so beautiful i'd like to keep it like this without compromising the colors.

The sickness "flakes" will fall off as long as it is out of the ground. I have some bottles that get cleaned about 1-2 times a year covered in that stuff, but every time i clean it, there is always a small grouping of the flakes that just fall off as it sits on the shelf.

yes Little Wing is my favorite song. love Jimi, SRV and Thorogood. on most forums i frequent i either use Little Wing or Voodoo Child.

a lot of the bottles on here make the ones i find pale in comparison but i love mine anyway. the flaking on this particular bottle is rainbow hued or like an oil slick on a puddle. in the large picture it reminds me of abalone too.

i've been looking at the site the past few hours on firefox but i can't log in till i switch to internet explorer. anyone know a cure for that? my zone alarms set right to allow it and i turned ad block off.

and to everyone, thanks for the warm welcome.
