The pictures of the snuff jars at the bottom of the page on this link. The dots on the bottom of the jars, do they effect value? How much are they worth?

Also, is a battledore technique used on the bottle base a common method? Using a wooden paddle to shape the base of a blown glass bottle.

Hello Joe,
Here is an article that states what I always thought about the dots.
http://www.texasescapes.com/DelbertTrew/Snuff-Tobacco-Dipping-into-the-history-of-snuff-tobacco.htm I don't think the number of dots has much effect on value.

Hope this helps,
Dean

Unembossed , late 19th century tooled lip snuffs are not worth much.
The current theory is the dots indicate potency.
