Got out for gun season last week and ran across a dump . It had refrigerators, tires fence posts ,car parts and all sorts of crap piled up high. As I walked past it to get to my hunting spot I noticed a bottle sticking out of the leaves. It was an amber tooled top sticking out. It turned out to be a Vinol with a tooled lip . Now I am thinking that there may be an older layer in there somewhere. Well , the deer gun season is over , and it was safe to return for a look . My Dad and I dug it out yesterday and there were quite a few intresting finds. Alot of screw top stuff to dig thru , but there where corkers in there also. Alot of local milks were popping out too. There were Hostetters, John wyeth cobalt, flasks, tooled top beers, blob top beers(all broken.). There was an occasional ink, marbles, and even dug up an arrowhead. But the one that made the dig was what I beleive to be a late throw. It is a Vaughns Vegtable Lithontriptic Mixture bottle that cleaned up quite nice. I dug one of these in a privy once but it was cracked up and did not survive the cleaning, so it was nice to find this.I dont think anything else in the pile was as old as the vaughns. Even w/out the vaughns , it would have still been a fun dig. Lotsa different stuff kept popping out thru the whole dig. A fun day of digging , and some quality time w/my Dad. Here are some pictures of some of the stuff I brought home all cleaned up. Alot of these have a light coat of oil on them to make them shine. Sure wish I knew where there were a few more dumps like this to get into.
