Hey NorCal,

Here's some information on your Maltine: http://bottlesboozeandbackstories.blogspot.com/ Scroll down the page about 3/4 of the way to find Maltine.

I believe Ozomulsion, or at least it's advertising claims were a casualty of the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906: htmp://www.bottlebooks.com/questions/July%202001/Ozomulsion%20and%20Psychine.htm I personally love the name of this stuff, conjurs visions of the Yellow Brick Road.

The Holbrook's was a Brittish sauce. Here's a bit from Digger O'Dell : http://www.bottlebooks.com/questions/Oct2001/october_2001_questions_ask_digge.htm It is not quite 1/2 way down the page, just bellow the picture of the Mellin' Food execs. They made, and still make a variety of food and flavoring items. I've got a quart size in my collection

I really want to visit your island someday...

Ozomulsion was advertised as a flesh forming food medicine for thin women, emaciated men, and scrawny children. It was introduced in the 1880's by T.A.Slocum Co., 96-98 Pine St. New York City.

T. A. Donlon also had bottles embossed before taking on Aguirre as a partner. I don't think we'll ever know how many different embossed druggist bottles exist from San Francisco. Then include oval- square- and round- based variants made for each druggist. And include embossing variants for each druggist...

Yeah, y'know I thought maybe I had most or all of those SF pharmacies/druggists...but a year or so ago Ken Werner began selling off his clear glass druggists on ebay. During his auctions I picked up about 15 SF druggists I didn't have including two unlisted* examples: Milton J. Blackman and The Gem Pharmacy. At the April Vallejo show I picked up an unlisted* Michieli's Pharmacy from SF right there on the Sierras Bros. table amongst numerous examples of Day's Pharmacy from San Rafael. All of the above-mentioned bottles (and more SF Bay Area druggists) are pictured in either thread:
