Gentlemen,

This is the seller's "provenence" in several of the descriptions:

"This sophisticated old collection of ancient glass bottles was assembled by Alma Brintnall in the mid-20th century. She travelled the world and collected only the most priceless of ancient bottles."

Are any of you aware of a "collector" by that name?

Corning got back to me! They're willing to trade a few chestnuts & pancake onions for this saddle flask of mine!

Just kidding. This is headed right back into the closet it was briefly awakened from.

He is getting $305.00 right now for this one http://cgi.ebay.com/PRICELESS-16TH-CENTURY-LATTICE-2-COLOR-EMBOSSED-BOTTLE-/160618576303?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25659cf9af 7 different bidders. That junk we were debating earlier last week netted him $4356.21 I am under the impression we should stick to American glass for it is what we know best. All of these people who bid on these items cant be dummies.I truley believe they know something we dont about some of this more ancient glass. Here are the completed listings from this seller over the last two weeks.Pretty impressive.

I am not convinced of that. We just saw 6 people bid on a known fake USA Hospital bottle. There are way too many people with a lot more money than sense. Far too many people beleive a story they are told. The fact that people pay money for something is no form of proof to me. We have seen a several people come on the forum and claim similar bottles were various multiples of hundreds of years old but never giving any solid evidence. I will choose to remain skeptical and try to keep learning what I can about the curious glass objects. Just my opinion of course.

I dont think the sellers story of a woman collector Alma Brintnall is what sold the glass Matt,I also know people bid on glass they shouldnt. The perfect example is the Booz bottle. How many times have all us at one time or another warned different buyers and the sellers that the bottle although it looks good is not the real deal.I am with you on the case of American made bottles like the USA Hospitol bottle and all of the Clevenger crap we see on a regular basis. These were decidedly diffrent though, that most of us have never handled. This seller had a wide variety of glass too much variety to lump it all as fake or forgery. Maybe the British guys at the forum here can shed some light, after all The Romans had a working glass house in Britain in 50 AD right up to 400 AD. http://www.glassmaking-in-london.co.uk/archaeology I have a good friend who works at the Philadelphia Museum of Art who has handled Roman glass.Unfortunatley he is away right now in Europe and wont be back until September. Here is a link to the early glass collection of the Philadelphia Museum Of Art.

Timothy B. Gordon (the seller of this "ancient" glass) is from Missoula, MT. I worked as manager for his older brother, Pat Gordon, who owned/operated Eagle Satellite during the early 1990s. Tim Gordon works as an appraiser and he can be reached at (888) 720-1812. timbgordon@mac.com. Alma (1930-2003) lived in the Bitterroot Valley and died from liver complications.

its a small world[;)] I never had any reason to question the seller's story about where he procured the glass. Or how it was originally collected. That all seemed reasonable.

The seller finished out at 5474.23 just for his glass related items.
Two more vases sold this evening for 356.61 and 761.00

This piece http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160619249554&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
had 10 different bidders and sold for 761.51.I found out earlier today with good authority that it is an authentic 5th
century Roman Vase.

This one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160619250337&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
which sold for 356.51 is more then likely a 5th or 6th century persian vase.I find this glass very enticing and would
one day be a great addition to my ancient coin collection
