Hey diggers, Check out this lil jewel. Found this one on a levy in Louisiana. Bayou was dredged and I went pokeing around in the smut, smelly mud, tapped this with the rod and pulled her out. What do ya'll think it was or is? Help....

Great color , I have always been told they are extract bottles. Many or all of these originally had a metal bracket that the bottle sat in and I believe was hung on the wall . I wish I had all the ones I have had over the years all back , I would have had a heck of a collection of them . There are so many different varieties and shapes of them .

That sure is lovely. Might have had wine in it?

In Polak's book, it's listed as being from the 1940's, value in the $25-50.00 range. Nice find.

YES A COOL FIND. I HAVE HEARD THE ONE LIKE YOU HAVE CALLED A BANJO BOTTLE[CALLED BANBOTS].I GAVE MY SIS A BLUISH ONE AND A AMYTHIST[DARKER THEN YOURS] ONE THAT HAD THE METEL HOLDER [LIKE L C SAID] THAT YOU HUNG ON THE WALL. THESE AND THE VIOLIN BOTTLES HAVE REALLY BECOME COLLECTABLE. 20 YEARS AGO NO ONE CARED MUCH ABOUT THEM ,BUT IN THE LAST IO YEARS OR SO THEY ARE COMING INTO THEIR OWN. THE VIOLIN BOTTLES ARE CALLED VIOBOTS. BOB LINDIN HAS WRITTEN A BOOK ON THEM .I AM SURE THE BANJO BOTTLES ARE COVERED IN THE BOOK AS WELL. PUT IN BOB LINDIN AND /OR VIOBOTS AND SOMETHING SHOULD POP UP ABOUT THEM. [I PUT IN JUST VIOBOTS AND A LINK TO A WEBSITE ABOUT VIOBOTS/BANBOTS CAME UP] JAMIE
