Looking for some input on this Amber, Blown in mold bottle with a recessed front panel. It measures 6" tall, and is embossed, DR. McWINNIE'S / SPAVOLENE / TROY, N. Y. I live just north of Troy, and my freinds and I have dug and attended Shows all around the East, every year for 10 or 12 yrs. We have never heard, or come across this bottle in our travels. Spavolene leads me to beleive its a Veterinary Medicine. Probabely Horse related. Get it, Dr. McWinnie's? I have talked to some of the bigger collectors of bottles from Troy, as well as people in the know, and noone has seen it. It was dug 5 miles from Troy 2 weeks ago, and I purchased it for re-sale from a freind.

Its a veterinary liniment (for horses I would guess). Made by Henry McWinnie around 1904-1910 or there bouts.

Melinda might be interested in it. Seems pretty uncommon.

Epackage, yeah, I should have thought to check with Rick on this. He does know the local bottles quite well, and is quite good at research.
Matt, thanks much for that info. I knew a couple people on here liked the Vet. bottles, but was not sure which. Maybe they will see this post. I was likely heading to Ebay with it, to catch the Troy Collectors eye as well. I figured it must have been pretty short lived, as we have never come across it, and the Colored Embossed Bottles from Troy are pretty well documented. thanks again.

I think the name McWinnie is too funny for a horse medicine. Almost as good as Dr Beers drunk cure.
Would you mind if I reposted it on my facebook patent medicine group?
