Antique Ink Jug ?

I have seen jugs in this form with a local merchant and "wine & spirits" debossed on them, I would guess they were a reasonably common form of north american made utility jug. the tops are always fragile though.

I suspect liquor or whiskey jug! I never seen or even heard about ink jug![;)]

The stenciled or labeled ink jugs that I have seen have all been straight sided, and less rounded in the shoulders. I'm not saying this couldn't be an ink jug, but it doesn't look like the ones that I have seen.
