I “inherited” this bottle from my parents. I was born in 1957, and they had it since before I was born. It’s about 12 inches tall and has an Anchor Hocking logo on the base (as well as the number 55, which I assume is probably a date). Seems like my parents referred to it as “Texan” Coke bottle. It’s the only one I’ve ever seen. Any information and approximate value (if it has any) would be appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like an old 12 oz. Coca Cola bottle.

Don't think so. It's a foot tall and holds 26 ounces. So it's significantly larger than a standard 12-ounce bottle.

It seems to be missing the white ACL.... but I was under the impression the first year ACL was 1957, so I'm not sure about the 1955 date.
Is there any 'ghost' image of ACL that may have worn off?

Thanks for the reply. No, there is no trace of lettering (and clearly gas never had painted lettering), and I can tell you that this bottle was around the house since my infancy (born in 1957), and it has always looked exactly like this. It

has always just sat on a shelf (never any opportunity for wear since at least 1960). I've attached a picture of the markings on the base.

Well I'm not familiar with Anchor Hocking date codes, it is peculiar that there is a 7 with a dot beside it.
Maybe it was a factory sample from 1955?....but I can't personally confirm that myself, as you can't either. Hopefully someone can confirm.

Coca Cola introduced larger sizes (10oz, 12oz, & 26oz) in 1955. They were all fully embossed except the 26oz which was painted and embossed.

I was reading an article that states Dallas was one of the very few US cities to be selected as a test market for the new 26oz bottle by coke executives.
So being there is no ghost label, I'd assume it was a factory sample that never got labeled, pulled from the production line.

Many thanks. I can tell you that my parents always told me that the bottle was called a "Texan," so the Dallas connection makes sense.
