Very cool! I've never seen a "gift bottle" before. Does that mean you're giving it away? [;)]

I hope someone can give you some info on it.

Hello brokenshovel' Well it is obvious that you have a fine bottle in your collection now. That is an ideal keeper. You didn't give us a picture of the bottom - so we don't know how it was haneled when they shaped he lip on the top of it. Nice glass item to have, anyway. RED Matthews

cool one.
I dont have it listed.
Appears to be a sample.
At one point it was sold by P. Van Alstine Prop. Balto., Md.
It contained morphine for toothache and headache pain.

Thanks to Everyone.
Red,
The bottom is unmarked, no mold marks etc

Gunther,
Do you have an advertisement or something that relates it to Van Alstine?

Thanks,

That is exactly the type of bottle / embossing I am trying to build a collection of: Unusual / Strange / Wierd / Uncommon / etc. I have never seen or even heard of a "GIFT BOTTLE" except German for poison. Does it actually have "BOTTLE" embossed? I can't quite read that 4th panel.

Thanks for sharing, that is a keeper for sure or an awfully good trader.

Gunther,
Do you have an advertisement or something that relates it to Van Alstine?

The product was cited for misbranding under the F&D Act in the early 20th century.
Probably because it didnt state it contained morphine and alchohol.
The proprietor at that time was Van Alstine in Balto.
I havent seen an original ad but I havent really looked yet.
I assume its not in the Balt book?

Very cool! I love samples, and that one seems unique as a "gift" bottle! Never heard of such a thing. Likely to avoid some tax on samples......here in Hannibal back in the day, people were taxed on how many external doors their home had, so to get around that, the more affluent had "windows" that rolled up through the wall into the story above, or attic, to avoid "the door tax.!" Anything to save a buck.......it's the American way. (Just ask congress!) Jack
