I have dug a sun colored amethyst bottle with that deep color purple to it.
It was laying on top of a rock pile exposed to the suns UV rays.

Well, the 2nd pic looks a little more natural.. you see, some bottles are made of glass containing manganese, which was used to bleach out the iron content in the glass and produce clear bottles instead of aqua.. manganese, when exposed to sunlight, turns purple.. some people have resorted to enhancing this effect by "irradiating" the bottles to produce an unnaturally deep purple color, which many bottle collectors consider an unscrupulous and destructive trick.

I also wanted to ask your opinions on getting this piece tumbled? In the pics the roughness (almost sandblast look) seems bad, but, only a few can be felt, by me anyways. I'm thinking/hoping that a lot of them are tiny bubbles. Would anyone care to hold it for a better "feel".
I would gladly pay return trip postage.

Thanks, Reid
