I want to thank everyone for replying to my post!!! I went digging in the same area and came up with some older medicine bottles with writing on the side MY FAV!!!
I am going to go back this weekend and hopefully I can deal with the horse flies and keep digging!!! Thanks everyone

wear a wide brimmed hat and spray a pyrethrum bug spray on the top of it. That should give them a good surprise.
