I came across this Brookfield Insualator. Did some research and learned I have no clue about the CD #s but found that some of these have errors. I will post more pictures but in this one you can see the embossing from the inside. On top it looks like "11." the second 1 looks funky. When I flipped it looks like "1L" or IL. not sure. Kicked it up in a creek while bottle digging. Any thoughts or help would be great! Thanks

Hello Aaron,

Rather than an "error," I think perhaps it was some material fouling the mould.

Very good photos, sir!

I agree with that I started collecting just bottles now it's Insulators and deprression glass along with bottles. now, I want to get some old metal signs if I can find em for cheap, I found a Whitmans chocolates and confections one at the dump, it's in rough shape but still mostly readable.

I do not believe it was anything in the mold that caused this error, just simple, bad engraving. Engraving errors with Brookfield insulators are very common.

One thing we need to remember is that this was 100 years ago or so, working in a glass factory. In alot of cases, the people that made the molds may have had little to no schooling, therefore spelling errors or backwards letters, or even small error like this may have been caused by illiteracy.

I will have to look, but the "mold numbers"(the numbers on the dome) that Brookfield used on alot of those molds had alot of errors. I may even have a CD 102 like the one pictured with a similar or same error.
