Found a round bottom today, don't really know anything about them. But I liked it so much I bought it. [:)] It has a number "10" on the bottom. There's some logo on the side but as much as I try I can't read it. I think two words might say "registered" and "made". The others are illegible. 9 inches I think. Thanks in advance for any information!
Cara

I believe that says CANTRELL & COCHRAN REGISTERED TRADE MARK. It looks very worn. Those date from about 1880s and are very common. Value in tht condition would be about $5 I guess.

Hello Cara,

It looks like Cantrell & Cochrane, Belfast to me. I'd put it 1890-1910ish.

Yeah I didn't really think it was worth anything, just a neat thing to add to my collection. Thank you very much for the information!

Odd that the mold line seems to go through the embossing?

Hello Cara. I have two similar bottles and I would like to get yours if a few bucks can do it. In my understanding of these bottles, I think their main use was for ballast on early ships. It was obviously blown in a two part mold that included the bottom of the bottle. That is the main interest that I would have. Not a common practice and I would like to study it closely to recognize the venting method that was used in the mold to permit the glass make contact with the mold cavity faces. I assume it was knife filed v-grooves that let the air out along the seam. This would leave little dots of extra glass protruding along the seam line.
Is the glass quite thick? What ever, Thanks for showing it off. RED Matthews
