I found this a while back and was wondering if it is rare. It looks like the bottom of a beer mug with the sides folded in. It was found by a large sanfords amber ink with a ground top. Thanks for looking.

What you have there is an inkwell. You pour ink into it, set it on your desk, and dip your pen in. It was designed in a way so if it tips over, it's least likely to spill. Most ink bottles were designed not to tip over; that's why they're shaped like cones or umbrellas. This would have been an inkwell, not an ink bottle, which means it would have been reused and refilled. It's the kind they used to use in school desks.
