In my worldly travels, I happened across two very curious insulators. One is a Hemingway 80?with the Mickey Mouse ears. I think. Its supposed to be 60 but it says 80. The other one is a similar style cable insulator but the ears are smaller, no drip points, and it is embossed CABLE. These may be available for trade but I'd like to know what I'm working with. I'm on my new tablet and I cannot figure out how to attach a pic. GF will help me this weekend and I'll get some photos up. Thank you, B

I am by no means a "Mickey Mouse" specialist but I believe your "80" is a 60 plugged mold, an anomaly and not an engraving error. I cannot find an "80" in the Price Guide. That insulator is classified as CD 257 and has MANY variants. Color is king and is most important determining value. Embossing variants not so much.

The other piece is classified as either CD 258, 259 or 260 depending on ear shape. Once again value depends on color. When the conversation gets around to color, the donnybrook begins. Rarely do folks agree, such as what is blue to one is green to another. A picture posted here will get several answers and all are likely different than the naked eye will see. My only suggestion is: have several experienced collectors view it in natural sunlight and give their opinions. Then pick the color opinion with the highest book value, call it that and go from there.
