Hello everyone!
I was at an auction today, and saw something that really caught my attention, but didn't have a clue as to what I was really getting. They had 2 crated demijohns. The two crates had diffent styled tops, and a hinged top reveals the mouth of the demijohn, packed inside, with straw, or celuose fiber(?).
I didn't get a good look at the first one they sold, for $45, the second had aqua colored glass, I think is was either a tooled, or applied top, I am not sure. It did say Black Berry Brandy on one side. It sold for $30. These crates were quite large, made from rough, heavy wood, the bottles were empty, they must have weighed a good 30 pounds.
Anybody know anything about these crated demijohns? Are they very rare, or valuable? I have to admit, I could see the temptation of removing the bottles, to be able to admire them, of course, so I wonder if they are very common, these days? Any help is greatly appreciated! [&:]
