I picked this bottle in a local antique store for $2.00. I love the dark green and large letters. It says "J.T. MILNE & SON TARVIN BRIDGE CHESTER". The base is embossed "C.S & CO.LD" I'm pretty sure it's English but what sort of liquid ? Beer, ale or maybe water ?It looks nice next to the Saratogas. :)

Yes it's an English beer bottle, roughly 1890 - 1915.

C S & Co Ld is the makers mark: Cannington Shaw & Co. They were glassmakers in St Helens in Lancashire in the north west of England, so quite local to Chester.
