I saw this guy on ebay, and just knew I had to have it! This is about as early as bottles in my locale get, so I like to pick them up as often as possible! I would like to know a little more about this bottle, like what years this firm was in operation in Milwaukee, and if it is common or rare. If anyone has any bottles like this from Minnesota I would love to see them (or own them [:D])!embossed: S. HICKEY & SON / MILWAUKEEHinge mold base, applied top(picture is from ebay since I haven't been hone during daylight hours recently [&:])

A hinge mold base usually refers to a bottom hinge, which that isn't.The link Jim put up would be the guy to ask for info. That one is a bit different but close.

Well i guess i just call it a hinge mold if the mold seam runs straight across the bottom (which it does on this bottle).

When time stood still, I thought I had missed the button and hit it again, and end up with a double post. Need a way to delete a post, but I don't see it in the options.

Nice looking soda. Glad you were able to nab it, and I'm looking forward to more pictures of it.

Hey Antler. Nice bottle. I tried to nab it for way too cheap and bid only $15. But even at the price you paid, you got a tremendous deal. My only explanation is that the market is down right now because I have seen similar examples go over $100. Sodas were produced under the name Hickey & Son from 1864 until 1869 (credit Roger Peters - Wisconsin Soda Water Bottles). Some of the bottles just a smidge earlier were iron pontilled. The bottle is considered rare in Roger's book which indicates that they are pretty hard to come by. I have a really pretty example in a greenish color - but obviously, I paid a bit more. Nice purchase my friend. When I first started collecting, someone advised me to go for early and rare bottles because those hold value the best. I'd say you did it on this one!

Here's my example. I really like it. It's just a little earlier than the one you bought on ebay.
