Can anyone tell me about this bottle I found at a yard sale?

"EBW" and "2" on the bottom. Near the bottom "Cap 6-1/2 FL , OZ" and Edwardsville, Ill. And "Registered Patented Pride" around the mouth very small.

Any info is greatly appreciated!!!

-Dylan

Because back in the day everyone and their mother were trying to get in on Cokes success, and they were doing anything to steal their customers. Coke sued many bottlers over the years for different trademark infringements...

Could have been any flavor, I imagine the cap would have been the identifier...[;)]

The bottle will actually read, "Registered Patented Priof"...
As that is the PRIOF crown seal closure top...which the builders/inventers thought would be the next great marketing idea for soda bottles. One could open the bottle with a coin or your pocketknife blade, allegedly...I've never tried one. As you can see from history, the Priof closure has gone the way of the dinosaurs.

These Priof sodas were made by Indiana Glass Co. beginning the early-to-mid Twenties and most likely abandoned about the time Owens Glass combined with Indiana Glass at the ending of that decade.

This is a "Private Mould Soda Bottle" design that appeared in the 1926 Illinois Glass Catalog. It was available with a standard "Crown" finish or the new "Prior" finish. The example pictured was for a different Illinois bottler.

Neat, celery! The adverts.

I note they say 'one of'... and they ain't kidding. Maybe hundreds...
Incidently my foray into embossed has led me to several of the 'private' mould bottle styles. It's pretty interesting, actually, for finding nearly similiar bottle designs from diverse bottlers in various parts of the country and for time spans that exceed ten years.

One of, indeed.
There is one deco bottle style that I now have 10 different examples, several others with five or six each. i used to like finding acls that shared label designs without sharing bottler or owner...few & far between but not rare.
Embossed designs duplicated seem to be much more common...hey, order a carload and they've put YOUR name on it for free!
