Does anybody know anything about these embossed puffs? This one has the FK initials but I found another once that had JC initials embossed on it. Just curious has anyone found others with different initials?
Ink Bottle. I have it as Francis Kidder. I think it was a two part ink where ink from two bottles were mixed for indullable ink. Sort of like hair dye.
Terminology, or glossary-wise, I'm confused again. I've seen the word "puff" used to describe un-embossed bottles in the past, generally when describing smaller bottles.
Is this a proper interpretation of the term? Are "puffs" any small bottle? Is this a regional thang?
Yes, small thin pontiled bottles. I know we used the term in the 70's out here and when I go east they use the term also. Always thought it might have meant the glass blower only had to "puff " to blow these little bottles? Don't really know.
That's a good explanation, Ca. I have heard that term a lot in the East. It refers to a small, pontiled, unembossed bottle as you all have said. I really love them. It's a wonder some of them survived. I have one that the lip is chipped on, but it's light as a feather. Anyway, really great bottle, Ca.
