Well I've been of the forum for a bit due to a couple of collapsed disks in my neck numbing up my hands. However things are better now, still just a little numb from time to time.

Anyway I was well enough to dive up in Maine and came up with a few finds that made me happy.

On one dive I found my first intact jug. Only a bit of the side was exposed and it took lots of digging to get it out of the compacted mud. As I dug and dug I just prayed it would not be broken. Part way through digging I came up with a broken handle and was worried that it might be to the jug. Luckily it was not.

I found this jug only ten minutes in to the dive and lugged it around for another 60 minutes. What a pain, a happy pain though. Also found a Davis Vegetable Pain Killer while digging the jug.

How old do you think the jug is and what didi these jugs hold?

More photos of other finds to follow.

Thanks,

Alan

Second neat find was this Boyd & Beard Mineral Water. I happened upon a new mooring which had been laid earlier in the week. The mooring was made of two large concrete cast blocks. The blocks had been dragged up the slope of the dive site and had dug a 30 foot long foot or more deep trench. I followed the trench hoping that bottles would be uncovered andnot broken and my prayers were answered.

This is my second intact Boyd & Beard Mineral Water from the site.

Nice! I'd be interested in the soda bottle if you ever want to sell it.

..I'll bet it feels pretty good. I'm no expert on jugs but I think that form held anything from Vinegar to Whiskey to Molasses...and was probably made from at least 1890's thru 1920's....Perhaps a jug expert will weigh in and set me straight. The color on that mineral water is really nice.

oops. didn't see Gordons post there,...didn't mean to seem repetitive...[:)]

ORIGINAL: myersdiggers1998

I would guess the jug is TOC ,they held a variety of fluids from hospital waste to cider ,vinager, whisky etc.

Thanks. Hospital waste? Really? I'll stick with the vinegar, whiskey and molasses story. [:D]
