It was a super cold day today but I had an itch for some digging/metal dectecting so I decided to take a talk. First I hit me reg dump which I can digin for the next 10 years & still not get it all. I found a few sodas and 1 milk. After that I made my way the an old house I spotted in a field. I got permission from the land owner and hit the celler to my suprise I found many old meds on the shelf all junk but 1 PONTIL PAPER LABEL Stauton Va ESSENCE bottle. I couldnt believe it I starting sweating in 20 deg weather & had to sit down for a min. After I came to my senses I looked around the celler a bit more nothing but fruit jars and other junk. On my way to the barn I had my metal detector to the ground and had a good hit so I dug a small hole and out came a local store token. After that I detected the yard but no more luck, but I think I did find the privy :) I finally got into the barn which is full of stuff it was almost dark so I grabbed a wooden druggist box from Balt and headed home...Still have the inside of the house & attic to serch and the barn junk. Hopfully some other Pontils come out.

Wow you did great! [:)]

From the sounds of it, that house and barn may be loaded with goodies. Please take your camera and snap some shots of the attic or other areas of interest when you go back. Untouched/unsearched material like that is rare to come across nowadays so seeing a few pics of how it looks would be very exciting.

If you don't want to risk damage to the camera please be sure to take plenty of pictures once you get the stuff safely back home. I bet you will do very well.

Those genuine essense bottles were generics that local druggists ordered and put their labels on. Every early druggist advertised them. You dont see them with the labels too often.

That sure sounds like an interesting place. There may or may not be any more bottles in there but the potential for non-bottle antiques sure sounds good. Would love to see some pics.
