So after making my first post yesterday with some common bottles, I decided to search for a new site and I found one that has a lot of potential diggability. I left a lot of stuff there that had no embossing. Took a few home that were sort of unique but no embossing so they are probably nothing good.

But I found one that has an interesting design embossed that I have here to share with you. Is it any good? Any info is appreciated.

The age is not a good sign.. it's from the 1930's or so, and most of what is found in 30's dumps is still trash, but it's a nice looking bottle..

Yeah, it is a "mad dog" type of wine bottle. 1930's/40's or newer. If it was on the surface, there could be some older stuff buried deeper. You would just have to dig a test hole and see what's down there. Not what I collect or dig, but if you like it then keep it... for now. I kept a lot of that stuff till I learned more about em and found older stuff to dig. Keep after em and you will find em!

It's def a screw top, cyberdigger is spot on with assessment. But maybe the whole spot is'nt all 1930s, so I say go deeper til you find something older or lose your mind. Whichever comes first. ---Joe

Yeah, I think the finds were all 30s to 50s. Here is another one I found. The bottoms says "Jergen's Patent Applied For".

I guess I'll have to go look for older bottles.

Don't despair of a 1930s dump! They may not be filled with pontils, but they can still produce some nice art deco sodas, crowntop beer/soda, milks, and the occasional late throw blob or hutch. The ones you've got there are recycleables, but I'd give that dump a good once over just for the heck of it.

there can be older sections that go to TOC or earlier if you find them. Sometimes people dumped entire crates of blobs, applied crowns, and hutches that were sitting in a shed or barn for many years. Lots of rare local bottles have been found in 1930s type dumps. I've found a couple myself over the years. I tend to enjoy digging older sites primarily, but it can be a lot of fun playing around in a big 1930s dump. Candy containers, akro agate stick shift knobs, art deco sodas, milks, cobalt bottles, etc... all sell well at fleas and antique stores. :)
