Found in pharmacy basement

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone knows what this is. It opens on the top only. It's in the basement of an old pharmacy. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, it's been there a while. I don't know if it is pharmacy related. However, there is another slightly smaller one on display upstairs.

Its a show globe used in the front windows of pharmacy/drugstores to attract attention ( a calling card). Some types were hung from the ceiling and some like yours. Usually filled with brightly colored dyed liquid- red most of the time. Always be careful with the contents -you never know what it may actually be.

I'm going to pick it up on Friday. I have no idea how to value it- I haven't found any similar with selling prices (I'm also a fairly new collector). If you have a ballpark, that would be helpful.
