That's a cool bottle but blueing bottles are one of those bottles that dont seem to easily fit into any collecting categories. I guess they fall under HOUSEHOLD bottles with glues, furniture polishes, cleaners and other such bottles.

One thing that may make searching difficult is there seems to be variations in the way his name was spelled.
I see bottles with both Gillet and Gillett spells, not an uncommon thing in 19th century america

GILLET[/b]/CHICAGO[/b] Fike 1987:163
GILLETT'S/ESS JAMAICA/GINGER[/b]/E. W. GILLETT/CHICAGO[/b] Fike 1987:117, 128
GILLETT'S/ESS JAMAICA/GINGER[/b]/F. W. GILLETT/CHICAGO[/b] Wilson 1981:34

thanks matt that first one looks like the same spelling .i found it at about 9500 ft in the colorado rockies there was also an unembossed cone ink burried there too.ive seen some pretty brutal pictures of guys draging heavy machinery up the mountains by mule and sled .its crazy that they survived the trip all the way from the east coast
