Glass Screws!?!?

Hey all,
I came across a gigantic Chevron sign out in the woods. I think its 50-60's, but I'm not sure. It originally had neon lights that lined the metal letters, and several big pyrex patent bulbs. Other than the sign just being really neat (and too big to drag out), the thing was held together in a lot of places with glass screws! I've never seen anything like them, but I'm not into collecting advertising, so they may be common, but check em out below.

I know they're glass screws, but does anyone know what they're actually called????? Searching glass screws online is useless!

I think you brought the wrong thing out of the woods , you need to take a friend and go and get the sign !

neon sign insulators, the neon lights rest on them. Why did they need to insulate the tubes you might ask...i have no idea.

Have you ever bumped your head into a neon sign? I have and do know why the tubes are insulated,big shock.

Once ionized the neon tube is a high voltage conductor. A close conductor can distort the glowing gas.

The sign is pretty big and would definitely take some work to get out of there. When I found it I didn't have a camera, but you all have motivated me to get back and snap a picture. Headed out soon, expect photos later on today..
