7 1/2" tall appears to have been made on semi-auto machine(bottom)
Were these used as pickle jars, and anyone have date and value.
Two sunglass pictures

My first instinct is that the jar has a grape motif. Could be wrong but the way the pics are suggests that. Maybe it was a candy jar?

DAVE...most likely just a vase. The way I remember it is Goofus was made by a former employee of Tiffany circa 1900-1920. And was painted on the outside in gaudy colors. Don't know if it was originally called "Goofus".
Here's a website about it. Was looking it over and noted a some pieces called "Goofus" that I had previously thought was some other type of glassware.

There are alot of people that collect Goofus glass. I've only seen one piece with the paint still on it.

Good link Charlie.

Thanks guys and no it is not high value unless I am missing something. Never have found it in a book, but had one years ago that I sold for $20.00. Paid $3.00 for this one. Thanks guys.Whiskeyman that site says being pickle jar is just a myth, but then I look in two bottle books and find Goofus glass for pickles. Not same size as mine (Kovels shows milk glass for hundreds). That one on the site you give me looks the same (grape ) however not either that I have had were ever painted (No resdue left)

DAVE...I have seen ones similar to yours, but larger, called, "pickles"...but don't think their intent was for pickles...more or less they were made as a type of "art glass" for decorative purposes...
Have yet to see one with any type of closure/lid.

But who knows?....I am always learning new things about bottles and glass...Probably forgot a lot too...[8|] LOL.
But one day someone may find one with a lid and label....never can tell.[&:]
(Stranger things have happened).
