Found this little cemetery by word of mouth in a waaaaayyyy out of the way community in lower Alabama. Three marked adult graves, and 2 unmarked child graves completely surrounded with mostly Pat D bottles, but with some '23's, and maybe a 1915 or two mixed in. I'll keep the exact location secret, just thought it was neat and wanted to share it.

Looks like a few have been snuck outta there as well, that's pretty neat. There's a post around here from way back when a pair stumbled upon a grave surrounded with Paine's Celery Compound bottles...

They are mostly Mobile, AL, Pensacola, FL, Frisco City, AL, and Andalusia, AL. Some nice small town Florida ones too. De Funiak Springs and Trenton. It does look like some walked off through the years. No way I'm taking something off someones grave site. That's heaps bad ju-ju.

Good thought, Steve.

Thanks, Ian for showing us these well tended graves with the Coca-Cola twist. The stones look pretty aged, are there no DOD's?

What are the porcelain looking items decorating the graves? Can you guesstimate their vintage?

It looks like people have been leaving flowers. Speaks well of the community or the caretakers.

What's weird is that the ground looks relatively newly turned over. The stones certainly look weathered, so why do they look like newly dug graves? [>:]

The lady I talked to remembered the bottles from when she was a kid, her grandparents are buried there, and she is close to 50. She remembers stories that the family that had these plots was very poor and could barely afford the headstones. They did what they could to decorate the graves. One has a date of birth, but the stone is so porous that the date of death is illegible. The other stones must have had something painted or written on them. They are blank now. The 2 child graves are completely unmarked.

Someone has to be spraying these down with weed and grass killer. Stuff down here grows like crazy, and these plots would be covered up in no time at all. I'll check out the figurines closer next time I'm out that way.
