Picked this up at a local antique store while hunting for bottles a few months ago for $3 dollars. Had some time and took some photos of some recent finds and wanted to share a few here is one. Native beauties Hair oil C.b. woodworth & son. Rochester NY. Hope some of you may be able to help me with the stamps on the bottom I believe they are some type of merchant trade stamp. Was this used at currency?? or price label ??

Here are the interesting stamps that on the base of the bottle. in the center of the stamp it has a picture of a man assuming mr. woodworth. around the picture of the man it has the name of the business and address as shown on the front label of the bottle. On one side it says the word ONE and on the other side CENT.
On the top is read US something Rev. and on the bottom it reads proprietary

hope someone out there can shed some light on these stamp and the company itself maybe some new York bottle collectors can help?

Thanks

Those are US revenue Tax stamps. At various times in US history they were required for certain products like medicines, perfumes , matches , etc...

Here are some ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/C-B-Woodworth-Son-perfume-tax-stamps-Scott-RT20b-RT20d-/390616918909?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5af2952b7d&nma=true&si=vQAKcfFsZeLF9uCN0e6119QtIGE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
