Hi, I just joined this forum today. I have recently started bottle digging.
(I should mention my older brother has been diving for bottles for over 20 years and has a nice collection that has spilled over to my parents house also, so I have seen and know a bit about old bottles)
Last year, my 11 year old son and I were at a local creek that I have been fishing for just over 20 years. I have always seen lots of broken old bottle pieces lying around but never thought about it till my son mentioned the glass sticking out of the bank of the creek.
We started poking at the bank with sticks and a 3" tall, 1" round cobalt bottle popped out of the dirt...it's embossed...
BROMO-SELTZER Emerson Drug Co. Baltimore MD.
A little more poking revealed 3 glass stoppers - 1 clear - 1 greenish - 1 amber
and a 1911 Canadian one cent piece (its as big as a 25 cent piece)
Then nothing but broken junk so we gave up.
I have been back several times this spring and have found another spot on the other side of the creek that I have dug up over 50 bottles...
...the latest...and the best was today. It's a amber coloured 8" tall square bottle 3" wide, embossed...
CANADIAN KODAK CO. LIMITED TORONTO ONTARIO
TESTED CHEMICALS
Also found a Toy Locomotive Engine 6" long 2" wide 3" tall (steel)
Cant wait to go back!
I'll post a bunch of photos as soon as I figure out how to upload them.
p.s.
Anybody out there from the Hamilton area, or Southern Ontario?
Know any local spots to dig?

Welcome to the site.
I dig with my 16yr old son. We've dug together for the past 4-5 years.
Great times together that we will remember for a life time.

Hey 1hoser2, Im in the area of Toronto and also seek construction sites and creek dumps. I have had luck in and around Toronto, but still want to try to locate those out of town dumps. My kids often come along for the hunt, they love finding the old stuff too. Also Metal detect and have found lots of War of 1812 stuff and upper and lower Canada coins..Regman

Aye, welcome to the forum! I'm in the London area. I'm always willing to travel for a good bottle dig, and I also have a good bottle digging partner. We generally focus on privy digging, and smaller town dumps. Some of our pursuits have turned up some good glass!
Just let us know if you ever need anyone to to head out on a bottle dig some time!
All the best,
