Hello all again

I was down the Thames foreshore today (see thames and field website) And rescued this bottle from the waves and rocks.

It has embossed on it ORIGINALY LECITIMA
AGUA DE FLORIDA
H.K. & F.B. THURBER & CO
NEW YORK

I would love a date for this bottle and what it may of contained. So far I presume water of florida, but thats it so far.

It has 2 seams up the sides but a rolled lip.

Any help much appreciated

Nice to see you again!
Here's a bit of info about Florida Water: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_Water

I'd say the bottle is from around 1880 or so..

Thanks people. Great stuff that florida water eh? Its not really an interest to me so I may send it to a good home instead.

That skull is so cool! Must have creeped you out a little bit when you found it.

How much do you want for that Florida Water?

Thak you all so much for your replies, you're a great bunch of people.

I think I will give it a gentle clean and show the people at the Thames and field club first.

Hi Wilkie I will keep it for the moment just to have a read up on it first.

I love the Thames it is great down there.

If any of you ever visit London I'd be happy to take you down there to have a browse around.

Good luck on your next digs

I walked the Thames at low tide a few years ago, but only saw lots of broken glass. This was on the "Eyel" side of the river, just below the bridge. Really cold and rainy that day, which "dampened" my spirits some. We also poked around the Liffy, in Dublin. God, what a trash heap that one is.

When searching the Thames a lot of people look for the iron piles of nails. Scrape amongst that stuff and 100% you will find medieval pins.

Good luck next time you are down there.
