As I was leaving, decided to dig a test hole and hit a beer, slick. Throwing the dirt back in and found the green
CROWN PERFUME LONDON
Nothing rare but a nice looking one.

I've always wanted to find one of those Crown Perfume bottles, especially with the ornate stopper. You should keep an eye out at that spot to see if the stopper from yours is still there!

Only ever found one, was in thick mud with the stopper still on it from a 1924-capped local landfill. A great addition to any bottle collection. It was the same brand Amelia Earhart used in May 1932 to keep herself awake during the first female solo transatlantic flight. That bottle is on display in the Purdue University Library (photo below).

The numbers on the bottom of these bottles would have been correlated to specific years so as to make their dating possible but the records were destroyed in the Blitz, or so I read. I think the stopper's crown design also changed occasionally to correlate to the reigning monarch at the time though I haven't researched this much to confirm.

I going back to try and find the stopper, problem is its 3ft off a side walk and hasn't been dug yet. Maybe a night dig or wait for cover to grow. Thanks for the info, that's why enjoy doing this finding out what's behind it.
Giddy up !!!
