I recently purchased some lots close to Lake Texoma near the town of Meade, OK. There are 5 storage sheds on this property and when I began cleaning them out to get them ready for demolition I discovered a massive bottle collection that I know has been in the shed for more than 15 years.
There are bottles of every shape, size, color and original use that you can imagine in this collection. There is everything from 1 gallon milk, Clorox, and utility bottles to mid-sized medicine and condiment bottles to perfume bottles with the glass stoppers. Some are embossed, some have original labels on them and some are old Kerr, Mason and Ball canning jars with glass lids and a spring loaded locking mechanism to seal them.
It would take me all day to try and describe this collection and to be perfectly honest I have only looked at the surface bottles and have not gone through all of them. There are 30 boxes and plastic totes full of these bottles. I estimate that there is probably close to 1000 bottles in total.
I am not a collector but F. A. and Aileen Wade (the original owners of the property now deceased) obviously were. A lot of their time and effort has gone into building this collection and I hate to see it just go to waste.
I am trying to find someone that can look at this collection and give me some idea of what a fair market estimate might be so that I can start placing ads for half of that value to try and get this collection back in circulation where it needs to be. Anyone Interested?
