Hi! I'm new to the forums and I recently inherited a collection of old bottles. I'm going through them, trying to determine more about each of them. In particular, I'd like to know more about this bottle. It's labeled "Old Springvale" bourbon whiskey and bottled by the Morand Bros. The label is marked 8 ounces. The cork and glass cap are still present. I'm having a difficult time telling anything more about the bottle (age, value, collection appeal, etc). I'm not even sure it's post 1900. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What does the base say? Do the seams on the sides of the bottle continue up the mouth to the top, or do they stop at the mouth/on the neck?

Hi! I'd have to check on the seams, but here's a photo of the bottom. I can get better photos later if that would help.

looks like it was a 1915 to 1920s.it's a machine made bottle and the bottom may show what glass company made it.

We cannot read what the base says. Is it like a B? I cannot tell. As for the seams, here is a pic of a seam that continues all the way to the top:

Others, like this one, see seams stop before they touch the mouth:

Seam on above one is kind of at right. Look near bottom to see it. It stops at what would be about an inch before the top, but some seams stop right at the lip. Other, most interestingly, go partially up the lip. And then I get confused as to why they went and did both. LOL.

Thanks for all the responses! I'll have to check the bottle at home and get some better pics and more info :) I'll post back tonight.

I'm almost positive that it's a pre-prohibition whiskey bottle, but not from that far before prohibition, sometime in the 1910's.

My turn to weigh in. Yes, pre-prohibition. I'm going with before 1906 because it does not have the Pure Food and Drug Act 1906 label. The back date label says March 3, 1897 so after that. Regardless, a labeled pre-pro whiskey bottle is very neat. I have a couple of them myself. A local whiskey distillery has opened using the name of the current owner's great-great grandfather. A labeled pre-pro bottle from that company just sold for for over $100 on ebay. I attribute that to high local interest.Let's see some more of what you done got! Scott

[attachment=image1.JPG] [attachment=image2.JPG] [attachment=image3.JPG] I have some additional photos I'm adding. I really appreciate all the help here! My grandmother collected bottles for as long as I can remember. She had stories that went along with some of them; she passed the collection on to me. I think I'm getting the collecting bug too! Best I can tell, the bottom is marked 3 and 42. The seam seems to run the whole length of the bottle side.
