I scored this nice early flask a couple months back, and have been trying to learn more about it lately. I came from a group of bottles dug from privies in downtown Dallas in the early 1960's. A customer of mine sold me some of the bottles. There is stil ten boxes to go through that I have not been able to go through yet. The bottles dated from the 1860-1890 period. I just know there are some killers in the other boxes.

I have been watching ebay, and have seen star flasks. None have the word star embossed on them, they are amber, and none are this old or crude. The top is very crude, lots of bubbles, stretch marks, olive glass in the neck, and some potstones. I think it is from the 1860 period.

Where might have it been made? What age to you guys give it? I know the newer amber ones do o.k. on feefleabay. Any value to this one? It is a pint flask.

Thanks for any info, and for looking!

Brad

Thanks! Everytime I look at this bottle I drool thinking about what could be in the other boxes. The guy that dug them ran an excavator co, dug them out, and boxed them up for nearly 40 years until I came along. It is really really rare for glass this old to be dug in Texas. Any bottle this old embossed with Texas is worth 200.00 plus at the least for the most part.

I know very little about flasks, but this thing reminds me of some of the Louisville Glass Works flasks in shape. Probably wrong about that though.

Good looking flask! I'd guess it to be from the late 1870's to early 1880's. Nice score!
