Here is a dig we did the first week in Feb 2007, we knew right where this pit was because we did one on the other side of the fence, in the yard over, we knew because that one started to cave in from the next yard, and bottles where popping out!! from the other side in the next yard, (blobtop sodas) so we knew that was another pit, when we where doing the one that caved, the fence that went down the center property line fell in! opps! we got the fence out,(it was hell) filled that in with a quickness! tossed 2 whole 55 gallon drums in and packed it silly,(we fixed the fence), and that dig was done, that was a 1870 pit we got a good haul from that one, sodas beers, flasks, ect, but this story is about the Feb dig I think haha, any way we came back on Feb 5 07 to try and dig the pit on the other side, we figured it would be solid and would hold the ground together at the top because it was so close to the one that caved, and it did, if we did it on a warm day, that side would have caved in to, on the side that caved in we got a good haul, filled it in and hit the road, and waited until it froze solid, from this dig Feb 07 we may be in Mike Polak's 7th Edition Antique Trader Bottle Identification & price guide. I was asking Mike a question about a bottle, and sent him a few pix, he was impressed not by the bottles, every though they where good ones, but by the crazy people digging in 14 degree weather haha,im not 100% sure we will be in but he said we would so, I just left it at that, PR is always good. here are some pix..Rick
