Jason...I have an A.B. Stewart from Gold Hill, Nevada. Do you know if they are one in the same? I doubt I will ever get one from Bodie if they are. $1200 is out of my comfort zone. I've picked up others from different towns, like Steinmetz from Carson City and from Palo Alto....Thnks for posting....Ron.

F.J. Steinmetz has to be the same guy. Seems druggists moved around quite a bit back in the late 1800s. I've got a few embossed examples of the same druggist but with different towns embossed on the bottles. There's a thread here somewhere where I posted pictures of my J.G. Robinson Santa Clara druggist and my J.G. Robinson Colusa druggist. Another that comes to mind is Henry J. Martin who has bottles both from San Francisco and Los Angeles...

The A.B. Stewart Bodie drug had a buy it now for $1200. It was bought within the first hour it was listed.
About 15 to 18 of these Stewart Bodie drugs have sold in the last few years and each time one sells it goes for a little higher price than the last one. Anything from Bodie is gold!

Oldtimer,
Out here in the west Bodie is considered THE ghost town. Lots of folks talk about the Nevada ghost towns, but for being able to see a real untouched town that is in a arrested state of decay, Bodie be the place.
The town belongs to the State of California and is a state park. No services are available, heck there isn't even a park bench as of the last time I was there. You really get a feel for the old west when you visit Bodie.
Any bottle or artifact that can be tied to Bodie's past is really collectable.

Mr. Ron Ireland,
From my research A.B. Stewart held drugstores in at least 3 cities. He and his his brother(s) formed businesses in Bodie Ca, Gold Hill Nv, and Seattle Wa. It seems he left Bodie with his brother around 1884 when a fire took his drug stock. He quickly relocated to Seattle in the same year and has a bottle that is a Washington territory product that are available for around 75-150 dollars i believe. A whole lot less than the Bodie ones go for. And just to throw my two cents into this thread.....i'm pretty sure the Bodie drugstore bottles are not rare. Just highly collectable. I think there is also two different varients of the bottle from that area. Someone with much more knowledge on the issue could help you a little better than i could. If you are ever attend California bottle shows, keep your eyes peeled for a Mr. Tom Chapman. In my opinion, this man is the authority when it comes to Bodie products. In fact i believe he wrote a book on the bottles from this area. Hope this helps. Have a great evening!
