I was able to add the rarest Baltimore steamer soda to the collection recently. There, as of now, are only 3 examples from D.A. Cooke with this being the second nicest condition of the three. I have been looking for one of these for a very long time and a good friend was able to sell me this one for a fair price. D.A. Cooke was in the soda/mineral water business for only a year or so this is an extremely rare one; not even listed in the Baltimore Bottle Book. D.A. Cooke also had 2 other relatives in the mineral water/soda business in Baltimore. The other relatives names were Thos. B. Cooke and C.W. Cooke. Not sure what the family relations were, but I do know that they were related. The bottle is embossed D.A. Cooke / horseshoe motif / Baltimore. I am very glad to have been able to add this holy grail to my collection [:)]

I've mentioned I love the steamers, and we all love getting a holy grail, congratulations! I'm happy for you, there's nothing like getting a bottle as nice as that!

Henry,

When are you going to write a book on the Baltimore steamers? I think something similar to the Ross book of Baltimore beers would be great. Except add in the dates in business and address and other interesting company information.

Congratulations, Henry! Feels great, doesn't it? I agree with Chris, it would be great if you could put together a book on Baltimore steamers. One of my goals is to do a book on early soda bottlers and brewers from my town. ~Jim

Thanks for looking everyone. I am still working on my list of all known known Ellicott City bottles, but maybe when I get a chance, I can begin a book on the steamers. It would be a good idea since it seems like more collectors are beginning to appreciate them more.
