Thanx for the post, as a non collector of these bottles I now know to keep my eyes open for them, I may have let a few hundred slip thru my hands over the years.....Jim
Interesting that the scoffers at the Jackson Show this weekend scoffed your price on the 987531 version.
Well. too bad for them, eh?
Insane prices. More valuable than Fox Fine Flavors? More than Calvert's Rainbow? More than red Rocket Beverages? Not in my world.
In December of 2009 I was able to download the "Mountain Dew Master List" that totaled 933 bottles at that time. I'm not sure what the total is now. As far as I know, in order to get the list now you have to join the Mountain Dew Collectors Club which charges $21.00 for three months or $70.00 per year.
The 2009 list I saved in a document file shows the following "numbered" bottles. All of which are dated 1964 (The year Pepsi Cola bought Mt. Dew) and apparently are from Louisiana. At least I think the bottles listed are from Louisiana - it uses the abbreviation LA. The list I have does not show values. But I believe that information is available if you join the club.
The list, nor Bruce Zafft's and Tim Tromp's 2001 book (which I also have) explain anything in particular about the numbered bottles. If someone knows anything about those apparently rare bottles, I would be interested in hearing more about them.
was able to preview the Mountain dew book on Amazon .com, it allowed me to look at the first section showing the Numbered bottles from pages 25 to 30 something Most show extreamly rare value of $1000.00 as of 2008.....learn something new here all the time....thanks for posting the question I would of never researched it. will have to buy the book now

Nice to see you still here sodabob. As you may remember I had started on a free list when I heard about Wayne's club. Sorry to say I have been unable to finish it, but I borrowed heavily from Dick Bridgeforth's hillbilly bottles book. In which he lists all numbered bottles as extremely rare and lists them as $1000 in price. They were not made for the general public, but meant only as test runs. Most collectors have them in their top ten of collectable dew's.
so thats what it was a TEST run..thanks.
the $1000.00 seems high in this economy but they seem to be averaging $500 to $600 on the bay, not much of a MD collector but something else to look out for,
