Just curious to see if any other members make their own beer.

Here is a picture of me racking 5 gallons of beer to a secondary fermenter to clear out some more. Scottish Ale. Should be ready in August.

Heck yeah!

My father and i brew a modified (well, uh, highly fortified [;)]) Scotch ale which has knocked the pants off pretty much everyone who has tried it. Friends, family, and neighbors all love the taste and hearty buzz.

Also brewed some raspberry mead and peach mead, both of superb quality. Had to beat my friends off with sticks in order to save enough for me personally lol. [:D]

I made a batch of Amber Ale with a friend of mine years ago. It was good. Tasted like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. But I just buy Sam Adams now...all the flavors I need...and a great place down town called the Distillery. All the beer a guy could want..

Looks like they have a great selection on tap at the Distillery.

Hey Jamie, There used to be a guy where I grew up that made homebrew. A lot stronger than beer, but not as potent as moonshine. He used fermeted peaches to make his. Went down real smooth but packed quite a punch. Yeah, it will make you happy happy.

Marc, Never experimented with home brewing beer. Tried to make some wine a couple of times with poor results. Made vinegar once and exploded glass and quite a mess once. My scuppernong vines are loaded this year. A friend at work made some scuppernong wine last year and it was good. May give it a try.

You are correct, Lager beers ferment at colder temps than Ales. Ale yeast ferments on top and Lager yeast ferments at the bottom.
