I dug a human molar with all four roots on it. It didn't even seem rotten.

Some of my weird finds have included false teeth, a badly burned silver dollar and a huge pair of boots. My boot size is a 12, and these things made mine look small. I would guess that they had to be at least a 15 or 16. They were on the very bottom of an 1850s pit. There were other shoe remains there, but nothing anywhere near that big.

I dug a sewing machine out of an 80's privy. It was a big glob of rust for the most part, but you could still make out what it was. There were also thimbles, needles, and spools of thread in that same pit. Chris

The weirest thing I've come across was a bicycle frame that was a big pain in my rear to get out of the way to get to the bottles below it.

Weirdest thing I ever saw come out of a privy was on a corner lot in San Jose, 1880s vintage pit. A hollow glass pen with a paper insert inside the tube from Shively's Dry Goods located in of all places San Jose back in the 1880s.

Although I didn't get this in the initial split, I later purchased it from the fellow who did.
Never seen another like it, very fragile and it is a wonder it survived.

Located in the still existing Letitia building: one of the few buildings the illustrious San Joe Redevelopment Agency didn't pay some developer to tear down and put up a Big Ugly steel and glass monolith.
