I’m stumped! Would love help w ID & date

My friend thinks this may be a large and unusual stopper of some kind, but I’m thinking it’s more like a perfume bottle. There is a number (5) embossed on what I believe is the bottom. (If it is a stopper that number would be on top which seems odd to me.) would be so grateful for any info on what it is and when it was likely produced. Ty!

I dug one of those in a 1950s-era dump last summer. I also believe it to be a perfume.
