I wanted to know if anyone here could identify this Louis Taussig whickey bottle for me. I have the Bill & Betty Wilson Spirits book, and the bottle show in there that is similar to this one has "Net contents 25 ozs" embossed on the front shoulder, and this bottle does not have that. This bottle also has an internal threaded tooled top, instead of the cork top. It does have a very faint "Union made" diamond shape seal near the base on the front, but it is almost not noticable. I thought the union seal was worn down by tumbling, but the rest of the embossing is so stronge, I really doubt it.

Anyway, I just thought someone here might have seen this bottle before, or have different whiskey bottle book and be able to tell me the est. date this bottle was used/ value. I doubt it is valued at much since it is a tooled top and Taussigs don't seem to be very popular.

Here is a photo like the one in the book
One like yours just sold on ebay for about 15-$20. There are many different variations.

That is a well taken pic CM, I did a sold search on e-bay and only came up with one like the pic you posted that sold for $9, and another in amber that sold for $53. What your trick to seeing other sold bottles?????
Thanx,
Jim

I researched this bottle about two days ago before this post was posted. There were two others (four total in completed listings) when I looked, and one was an internal screw thread.

Thanx Cobolt, I thought maybe you had another way of searching, I sometimes find old e-bay items stored on google that don't come up on e-bay.....

I know what happened. My bottle is embossed LOUIS TAUSSIC not Taussig and did the search accordingly.

I have dug many dozens of those common Taussig fifths at various locations around here. They sell for 10-15 bucks, when you can find a buyer. Put it on eBay with a low start and see where it goes.
