Ran into a really great guy at the local Hysterical Society the other night. He's a geologist and archaeologist (or however you spell them). And he metal detects.
And the best part?!?! He really doesn't care much for bottles. But he knows where a lot are!
Now I would prefer a privy over a dump, but when the locations are flying around in conversation, I'm gonna check them out. So Josh, Rebekah and I headed out this afternoon.
First spot seemed the best. Old ice house foundation. Shards everywhere. Although I almost think this might have been dug 30 years ago by a local couple. I'll have to see if she is still alive. All the pics are from this stop.
Second stop was to meet up with with mew found friend. He had been out detecting and checking for Indian artifacts. Showed me a musket ball, some stone knives and points, and some kind of early coin from 1780ish (can't remember).
Third stop had a "No weapons policy" posted.
Fourth - the same.
Fifth spot - only one piece of 1900ish med. bottle. No other shards. But a promising site that we can hopefully check out at some point.
Enjoy the pics.
