Hey guys !! --cool forum !

I need your expertise....

We found this old looking bottle in a house we bought.

It is heavy--maybe wood surrounded glass ? The outside appears to be wood.

The bottom says Made in Italy

The words are hard to read --see pictures , but I think it says COGNAC STRAUSRRHIN . ??

See if you can decipher it [:)]

Anyway , we are wondering what this is , how iold , value , etc .. ?

THANKS GUYS !!

Hey dart,

Welcome to What Is It After, and thanks for bringing the wrapped bottle. The Spanish and the Italians were both wont to wrap bottles in leather, or ersatz leather, for the tourist & export market.

I didn't find anything on that brand of Cognac, and can't make out the Coat of Arms on the reverse.
With no visible glass, it's difficult to tell you much about age, though I suspect mid-20th Century. It's kinda dried up and scuffed, which gives it that English Leather kinda manly vibe. [8D]

It would look kinda manly on a back bar shelf somewhere. I'm not aware of anyone hereabouts that collects this sort of bottle, but you do see this type for sale at the various electronic venues.
