I am just starting to get into collecting insulators. Is there any websites or books for insulators? I need to know the values of the insulators so that I won't get ripped off by dealers here in Hawaii. Things do cost a bit more in Hawaii but I can't see paying extremely high prices. I have attached a couple pics of insulators that I recently added to my collection. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rick

Hi there rick, www.insulators.com would definately be the best. The picture gallery has over 10,000 pictures ( www.insulators.com/pictures ). Lots of great information can be found on there. The first insulator is a Cd 202 Hemingray and aqua and the second one is a Cd 252 lynchburg in a sort of pale green. Let me know if I can help you any further.

Thanks for the info bottlecol345, I'll be checking out the site tonight. Do you think that I paid too much for the Hemingray?

Agree with Brains, Its a good insulator. If I say it on a table I would probably buy it. Id guess its worth around $30.

Hi Brian,

Posted a couple pics of this thing a while ago. Didn't find out too much. Belongs to a friend who got it from a telephone lineman years ago. Still don't know if it is some sort of insulator or what. It is solid but pretty blue color in any case. Know that Whithall Tatum used to fill molds with hot glass to warm up the molds prior to production, then disguard the piece from the mold. It is about the size for an insulator but solid. Any ideas?

G, i dont know about that 1. Perhaps it's A Bell system paper weight? A solid pour insulator will look like the top half of an insulator because it's threds were never inserted but i dont reckonize what your's is. I will think about that 1 in the mean time...

That looks to be a bell commemorative made in the 70s. I believe those were made in many colors, Ive seen a couple in antique stores before. Does it have any embossings anywhere on it?
