Is there anyway to tell an original SS from a reproduction? Just based on the bottle and not the label? I haven't found any information on it, but I probably haven't been looking hard enough. Bah. The city is Birmingham, ALA on back. ROOT on bottom. The picture is the same bottle just a front/back view.

There's nothing repro about that one. Give it a quick tumble and you've got a really nice SS Coke.

I'm confused, I thought there were reproductions done of the SS at some point? And what do you mean tumble? New to the bottle-collecting jargon. [:)]

Tumbling is a way of cleaning the bottle by putting it in a machine that will spin it with abrasives and polishs to get it looking like new. Probably a $10-20 cost if you could find someone local to you...

That's certainly real. Only really reproductions of the Straight Sided are the 75th anniversary bottles, a few Christmas bottles, and related. Those you can pretty much clearly tell. The bottoms are thin and have the ridges. [:)] Like epackage suggested, give it a tumble.
