Hi Folks! Thought i would send this one. It looks like a Demijohn bottle but all the photos i've seen, the bottles are very crude looking. I picked it up at a yard sale and spent $20, i bought it to use for spare change. I'm not sure if it is Demijohn, or how old it might be? maybe it is just a modern wine bottle, not sure, did i spend to much? hope not but oh well no matter.
Well see ya later!

Hey Josh, It looks like a sangria bottle without the basket. They sell for $20 to $30 dollars at shows so I'd say you did ok.

I have a 1930s to 1940s water fount bottle I use for change but my wife and grandson keep it empty for me.LoL

What is the true definition of a demijohn? I just found one that is definatly a demijohn while driving around a local village wide garage sale. Unfortunately it was not at a garage sale and I don't believe that it is for sale. It looks to me to be a new england free blown from the early 1800's with a huge blob top. I'm guessing its around 5 or 6 gallons and a deep green. I want to say closer to a forest green then an aqua. I might stop there some time soon just to ask about it. It was a very awesome looking hunk of glass. I can't believe the guy just has it in his front yard sitting next to his walkway. I'd be afraid that a tree would fall down and bust it. Hopefully he'll want to get rid off it. How much do the early freeblown rough pontil 5 gallon demijohns go for anyway? Jason
